Before you head out the door via bike, foot, skateboard, or wheelchair for Atlanta Streets Alive on April 19th, check out these tips for having the most fun at Atlanta Streets Alive in the West End.

Safety
Safety is our number one priority. We want to make sure everyone has a safe and fun time at Atlanta Streets Alive.

How will I know where things are on the route?
There will be maps located throughout the event to find locations of water stations, restrooms and information tents. You will be able to see more detail on our interactive map here.

How do I get to the West End?
Walk, bike, and take MARTA! Use Google Maps walking, biking, and transit directions for the best route to the event.

If you’re taking MARTA, use the Red or Gold (North/South) line to get to the West End MARTA Station. You can even bring your bike aboard MARTA. Just exit the station and you’ll be right there in the middle of Atlanta Streets Alive action! How cool is that?

Where can I park my vehicle?
Any side street outside the route is fair game, another good location with lots of spaces is the West End Mall (at the corner of Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. and Lee Street.) Please avoid parking inside the route to be courteous of the residents who already have limited parking.

What if I live in the West End and am not going to Atlanta Streets Alive? What are some alternative traffic routes?
We understand that Atlanta Streets Alive can be an inconvenience for those who live in the neighborhood. To minimize any negative impact it may have on residents, please refer to our map of alternate routes around the event.

The following streets will be closed to car traffic on Sunday April 19th from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.:
*Ralph David Abernathy Blvd (from Langhorn St SW to Lee Street SW) all lanes
*Lee Street SW (from Ralph David Abernathy to Donnelly) all lanes
*White St SW (from Ralph David Abernathy Blvd SW to Lee St SW) all lanes
*Peeples St SW (from Ralph David Abernathy to White St SW) all lanes

Cars will be allowed to cross Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. SW at Lawton St. SW and White St. SW; Peeples St. SW at Oglethorpe Ave.; Joseph E. Lowery Blvd. crossing Ralph David Abernathy Blvd (businesses and residents only.)

I’m a volunteer. Where do I check-in?
Volunteers will check in at the Atlanta Streets Alive Information Booth on Lee Street near the West End MARTA Station. If you’re working at the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition tent or are doing surveys/counting people, check in at the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition booth on Lee Street just South of the West End MARTA Station (it’s right next to the Atlanta Streets Alive tent).

What if  it rains during the event?
The event will be rain or shine. We will be monitoring the weather closely. Stay updated via Twitter and Facebook.
