Hotlantans are loving Zumba and we are striving to make Zumba the #1 exercise program in Atlanta! Zumba is the Latin inspired fitness phenomenon utilizing dance and world music. Zumba combines a total body workout with toning exercises and fat-burning dance moves for a workout that’s more fun than it is work. It is a spicy, upbeat melange of salsa, merengue, samba, belly dancing, conga lines and other tropical tempos. This is dance fitness
with the emphasis on fitness, not complicated choreography. It’s easy, aerobic, and makes anyone look positively CALIENTE!
A walk through our class.
We will warm up the body for 5-10 minutes with toning exercises that work all of the major muscle groups. For the next 40-45 minutes, you will try out all of the different styles of world dancing, changing the rhythm with each song. We tone your abs and use other strengthening exercises. By the end, you cannot believe the class has gone by as you smile and cool down.
What are the benefits?
It’s fun and it burns approximately 400 – 1,000 calories per hour based on the participants cardio intensity, fitness level and dance ability. You can make Zumba a low to a moderate impact class putting less stress on the body but spice it up with higher intensity cardio choreography. The music is programmed to go from medium paced to very fast, then back down again. Your heart rate speeds up and slows down, making it easy to keep up which is based on the interval training philosophy. Zumba engages the oblique muscles. These muscles run along the sides of your stomach and work more than other exercise programs thanks to a lot of waist and hip movement. The belly-dancing moves work the arms and core. And virtually all of the moves including salsa and merengue work the legs, since you’re constantly bending and moving them to dance.
What to wear and bring?
Supported fitness or dance fitness shoes with less tracking on the bottom , comfortable active wear, WATER and a towel.
